How to link PAN Card with Aadhaar?

UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) issues an Aadhaar card to each citizen of India containing a 12-digit number. As an identification number, it can be used to access a cardholder's details such as biometrics, contact information, and other information from the government database.

The enrolment process for obtaining an Aadhaar number is open to anyone living in India regardless of their age or gender. Enrollment is free of charge, however the document process support fee is 499 Rs.  Upon enrollment, an individual's details are permanently stored in the database. Multiple Aadhaar numbers are not possible for the same individual.

If you hold a PAN and are eligible to get an Aadhaar number, or already have an Aadhaar number, then you should inform the Income Tax Department of this. Therefore, it is necessary to link PAN to Aadhaar. After 30 September, 2021, your PAN will become inoperative if you do not link your PAN with your Aadhaar.

The latest update

The deadline for linking Aadhaar with PAN has been extended from 30th June 2021 to 30th September 2021.
